Carla Taines has worked in the publishing industry since 1978, concentrating on non-fiction material. Since her appointment as Editor-in-residence at LaTrobe University in 1996 (a six-month position funded by the Literature Board of the Australia Council), she has become increasingly involved with assisting academic staff and tertiary students. She edits several academic journals (across a variety of subject areas) on an ongoing basis, as well as books from various publishing houses. She also regularly runs “Writing for publication” seminars and workshops for academic staff and research students at a number of universities. And for several years, she was involved in the development and teaching of an undergraduate subject in editing and publishing at the University of Melbourne.
