About the Author



Peter Abelson graduated from Oxford University and gained his doctorate from London University. He has held a Personal Chair in Economics at Macquarie University. He currently has visiting appointments at Sydney University and the University of New South Wales and is an Adjunct Professor in the Australian and New Zealand School of Government. Peter is a Director of Applied Economics, an economic consultancy practice, and he has extensive consulting experience in Australia and internationally. From 1993 to 2006, Peter was Secretary of the Economic Society of Australia. He is also a past elected Mayor of his local municipality, Mosman, in Sydney.
