Advanced Functions 12 Information Center: Feature Summary

A resource written specifically for the University, Advanced Functions (MHF4U) course. This course satisfies the mathematical prerequisite for some universities, while some students will take Advanced Functions as a prerequisite to Calculus and Vectors.

The instructional design supports the investigative approach to introduce a lesson while problem solving will retain an open ended response developing students' abilities to reason mathematically and communicate their thinking

While the focus of the course is on expanding knowledge of functions, students will achieve an extended knowledge base on Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Polynomial and Rational Functions, and Characteristics of Functions

Each section begins with a page of Key Concepts that summarizes the concepts needed to complete the exercises.
Exercises are organized into sections - A: Practice, B: Connect and Apply, and C: Extend and Challenge.
Each chapter includes additional Challenge and Extend Your Thinking questions that cover the concepts of the lesson as well as combine concepts from previous sections
All answers are provided at the back of the book. Every time a new concept is introduced, the fully worked solution will also be provided.
Each chapter ends with a checklist of concepts and specifies what students should be able to do by the end of the chapter.
A practice exam at the end of the study guide gives students the opportunities to determine if they are ready for the final exam.
