Supplement List

The supplement package that accompanies the seventh edition of Human Physiology is designed to help students in their learning activities and to assist instructors in planning coursework and presentations. Following are brief descriptions of the support materials.

1. Laboratory Guide to Human Physiology: Concepts and Clinical Applications, ninth edition, written by Stuart I. Fox. The exercises in this manual have been carefully refined and updated to keep pace with changes in laboratory technology, computer-assisted instruction, biohazard health concerns, and vendor supply sources. The manual is self-contained, so that students can prepare for the laboratory exercises and quizzes without having to refer to the textbook. Many of the exercises reinforce topics covered in a human physiology course. These exercises have been classroom tested for a number of years.
2. Instructor's Manual/Test Item File written by Colleen J. Nolan. This instructor's resource contains objectives; chapter summaries in outline form; additional critical thinking questions and case studies with solutions; answers to essay questions from the text; and lists of transparencies, suggested films, videocassettes, and software for each chapter. The appendices include a list of transparencies; film, video, and software distributors; and biological supply houses. The test item file contains an extensive bank of questions for constructing examinations.
3. Instructor's Manual for the Laboratory Guide written by Laurence G. Thouin Jr. This manual, designed to help instructors set up the laboratory, provides answers to the questions in the laboratory reports.
4. Student Study Guide to Accompany Human Physiology written by Laurence G. Thouin Jr. The answer to the first essay question in the Review Activities at the end of each text chapter is provided in this guide, along with helpful hints on how to answer essay questions on physiology. In addition, there are objective questions (with answers), fill-in-the-blank questions, crossword puzzles, and other devices to help students use the textbook more effectively.
5. A set of 200 acetate transparencies. These color transparencies, selected from illustrations in the text, were chosen for their value in reinforcing lecture presentations. They are packaged in a three- ring binder for convenience.
6. Visual Resource Library to Accompany Human Physiology. This CD-ROM contains all of the line art from the textbook with an interface program that enables the user to scan the images and create a multimedia presentation.

7. MicroTest III. This computerized test generator enables instructors to create customized examinations from the Instructor's Manual/Test Item File quickly and easily.
8. The Essential Study Partner contains 120 animations and more than 800 learning activities to help your students grasp complex concepts. Interactive diagrams and quizzes will make learning stimulating and fun for your students. When a question is answered incorrectly, a link is provided to a tutorial section for further review.
9. The Online Learning Center at www.mhhe.com/fox offers an extensive array of learning and teaching tools. The site includes quizzes for each chapter, links to websites related to each chapter, supplemental reading lists, clinical applications, interactive activities, art labeling exercises, and case studies. Students can click on a diagram of the human body and get case studies related to the regions they select. Instructor resources at the site include lecture outlines, supplemental reading lists, technology resources, clinical applications, and case studies.
10. Dynamic Human CD-ROM Version 2.0.. This CD-ROM contains three-dimensional visualizations of relationships between anatomical structures and their functions in the human body.
11. Virtual Physiology Lab CD-ROM. This CD-ROM features ten simulations of the most common and important animal-based experiments ordinarily performed in the physiology component of the laboratory. This revolutionary new program allows students to repeat laboratory experiments until they have mastered the principles involved.
12. McGraw-Hill's Anatomy and Physiology Videotape Series. These exceptional videotapes include Introduction to the Human Cadaver and Prosection; Introduction to Cat Dissection: Cat Musculature; Blood Cell Counting, Identification Grouping; and Internal Organs and the Circulatory System of the Cat.
13. Life Science Animations Videotape Series. This series consists of five videotapes containing fifty-three animations that cover many key physiological processes: Chemistry, The Cell, and Energetics;Cell Division, Heredity, Genetics, Reproduction, and Development; Animal Biology #1 ; Animal Biology #2; and Plant Biology, Evolution, and Ecology. A videocassette icon appears in relevant figure legends in this book to alert the reader to related animations. Another videotape, Physiological Concepts of Life Science, is also available. A new 3D videotape is also available with forty-two key biological processes all narrated and animated in vibrant color with dynamic three-dimensional graphics.
14. Human Anatomy and Physiology Study Cards prepared by Kent M. Van De Graaff, R. Ward Rhees, and Christopher H. Creek. This boxed set of 300 illustrated cards (3 x 5 in.) concisely summarizes concepts of structure and function, defines terms, and provides tables with related information.

15. Atlas of the Skeletal Muscles, second edition, prepared by Robert and Judith Stone. This atlas serves as a guide to the structure and function of human skeletal muscles. The illustrations help students locate muscles and understand their actions.
16. Coloring Guide to Anatomy and Physiology prepared by Robert and Judith Stone. The coloring guide emphasizes learning through the process of color association and provides a thorough review of anatomical and physiological concepts.
17. Laboratory Atlas of Anatomy and Physiology, second edition, prepared by Douglas Eder et al. This full-color atlas features histology, human skeletal anatomy, human muscular anatomy, dissections and reference tables.
18. Case Histories in Human Physiology, third edition, compiled by Donna Van Wynsberghe-Cooley and Gregory Cooley is now an internet- based product. The cases afford students opportunities for integrating their thinking toward problem solving. An answer key is also available.
19. The Interactive Histology CD-ROM by Bruce Wingerd and Paul Paolini, San Diego State University, includes 135 full-color, high-resolution LM images and 35 SEM images of selected tissue sections typically studied in A&P. Each image has labels that can be clicked on or off, has full explanatory legends, offers views at two magnifications, and has links to study questions. The CD also has a glossary with pronunciation guides.
