Achyut S Godbole completed his B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, after an exceptionally bright academic career having stood 16th in the SSC Board examination and 1st in the entire University and winning prizes in Mathematics throughout. He has about 30 years of experience in the field of software in India, the U.K. and U.S.A. working with companies such as, IBM, Hindustan Lever, Systime (U.K.), PCS, Syntel and L&T Infotech. He was the Managing Director of Syntel (India) and Chief Executive of L&T Infotech for about 4 years each. Presently, he is the Managing Director of Softexcel Consultancy Services, Mumbai.

He has contributed to the growth of four companies in the arena of software exports from a small size to a fairly large strength. Widely travelled all over the globe, he is immensely interested in technology, human relations, music, economics and literature. He has written several articles in well known journals/magazines on music, computers and management and many books on these subjects. He has conducted about 60 television programmes on music and computers.

He was given, "Distinguished Aluminus" award by IIT, Mumbai, "Kumar Gandharva" award by Prof. Bhimsen Joshi and "Udyogratna" by IES. He spent one full year among Adivasis just after passing out of IIT to participate in the social movement for their upliftment.
