Professor Srinath received his Ph.D. from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago and has served as Professor of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at University of Kansas, Lawrence. He has also served as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, and also at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has also served as Director of Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Professor Srinath has authored several books and papers and has been on the Advisory Boards of several national bodies dealing with engineering education.
