No matter what amount of technology comes into being, the basics of any particular subject do not change and so is the case with “Thermodynamics”. This is one of the foundation subjects for a Mechanical Engineer. I would much like to call this text as one of the classical ones written by an Indian author. This is one of the most appreciated books which was first published in 1981. The second edition was published in 1992.

In the third edition, the theory portion has been enhanced wherever required. There is a new chapter on Gas Compressors with detailed coverage on Single Stage Reciprocating Air Compressor, Multistage compressor and Rotary Compressor. The number of solved examples and chapter end exercises have been increased to further facilitate the understanding of the subject.
