Book Preface

I have great pleasure in releasing the second edition of International Business. The second edition has been brought out after making several changes in the text.

New Chapters

The third chapter in the first edition has been split into three independent chapters, viz; Political and Technological Environments (Chapter 3), Cultural Environment (Chapter 4), and Economic Environment (Chapter 5). Similarly, Chapter 16 of the first edition has been merged with Chapter 4 in the second edition. With these changes and additions, I have been able to discuss each environmental factor of international business in greater detail.

New Features

In the present edition, each chapter commences with an Opening Case and most opening cases are India centric. The opening case introduces the chapter to the reader and holds his or her interest till he or she finishes reading it. Maps appended to Chapter 1 and included in Chapter 5 will enable the readers get better perspective about world’s geography and of its business as well.

Pedagogic Aids

Every chapter has learning objectives, visuals, exhibits, questions and chapter-end cases. As with opening cases, many of the closing cases too are drawn from Indian businesses which have presence in global markets. All concepts are explained citing Indian and foreign examples. The number of exhibits has been increased and data have been updated. Every chapter has been revised and enlarged. I am confident that the instructor will find the book comprehensive, contemporaneous and handy. Students and others will find the book worth reading and owning.

I welcome the esteemed readers to offer their comments on the book. They may reach me at dr_k_aswathappa@yahoo.com.
