Environmental Studies as a subject does not need any introduction. As per the directive by the Supreme Court of India in October 2003, this subject has become compulsory for all the undergraduate students irrespective of their stream of study. Anna University has introduced a course titled Environmental Science and Engineering for all branches of engineering in colleges affiliated to it. This book is designed to serve the need for this newly introduced course. While developing the content of the book, care has been taken to cater to the different/varied backgrounds of the students. The book is written in a simple and student friendly language.
