WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT THE WORLD?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in another country? Or maybe you have lived overseas, but are wondering about a place you haven't lived. This exercise is designed to give you the opportunity to discover the interesting and not so interesting aspects of the country of your choice. The purpose of this exercise is to provide you with an insight into the cultural differences that exist between countries. To prepare for this exercise, read Chapter 15 of your textbook, especially focusing on the discussion of culture and the areas that are considered important to HRM.

Choose a country you would like to learn more about. It would be advisable for you to choose a developed country, as you will be able to find more information on a developed country as opposed to an under-developed country. Using the World-Wide-Web, research the following areas and prepare a detailed outline summarizing the information you discovered in your research. Write a concluding paragraph explaining why you would like to visit the country you investigated (or why you would not like to visit). Be specific, relating your decision directly to the information in your outline.

  1. Demographic Make-up of the Country
  2. Economic Development of the Country
  3. Prominent Religions
  4. Describe the Political System and the Political Environment.
  5. Geography
  6. Education System
  7. Types of Recreation
