About the Author

H. John Bernardin is University Research Professor and the Adams Professor of Management in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He earned his Ph.D in industrial/organizational psychology from Bowling Green State University and is the former director of doctoral studies in I/O psychology at Virginia Tech. He is past Chair of the Division of Personnel/Human Resources of The Academy of Management. Dr. Bernardin was editor of Human Resource Management Review and has served on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Human Resource Management Journal, and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. He is the author of six books and over 100 articles related to human resource management. His paper on employment discrimination was cited as the best paper of the year by the Society of Human Resource Management. Dr. Bernardin has consulted for many of the most successful companies in the world and he has served as an expert witness in numerous employment discrimination lawsuits. He was denied stardom in the NHL because of that lame “no double runners” rule. He narrowly missed a Nobel Prize in 2006 for his “Put a penny in, take a penny out” invention.
