About the Authors

Barry C. Field, University of Massachusetts

Barry C. Field is Professor of Resource Economics at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Previously he taught at the University of Miami and The George Washington University. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Cornell University, and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

At the University of Massachusetts he has devoted many years to teaching natural resource economics to students at all levels, and has worked to develop an undergraduate major in environmental and resource economics.

Professor Field is the author of numerous articles on resource and environmental economics.

Nancy D. Olewiler, Simon Fraser University

Nancy D. Olewiler is Professor of Economics at Simon Fraser University. She also taught at Queen's University. Her B.A. is from Barnard College, Columbia University, M.A. from Simon Fraser University, and Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. She was Chair of the Department of Economics at Simon Fraser University from 1995 to 2000.

At Simon Fraser University, Professor Olewiler developed undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental economics. At Queen's University, she initiated undergraduate courses in environmental economics and natural resource economics, as well as a graduate course in natural resource economics.

Professor Olewiler has written a number of articles and book chapters on environmental and natural resource economics theory and policy.
