Sample Letters, Memos, & Email Messages

Included here is a mix of sample letters, and memos. These are actual examples of correspondence (with names, addresses, and company names changed) that have been sent or received by companies and individuals.

Look through these examples and evaluate their effectiveness. Some seem to be effective messages – others violate some of the guidelines that are discussed in the text. See if you can look for ways to improve these letters and memos, or for places in which they use successful communication. You can use these samples as examples of what to do, or more importantly, what not to do.
