Life expectancy tables are based on overall population averages for each age group. Your life expectancy may differ from the overall average for your age group due to factors such as genetics, health, gender, and lifestyle. At the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company's Web site, you can respond to questions about factors affecting your life expectancy. Your life expectancy is then calculated and you are given the amount each factor causes your life expectancy to deviate from the population average.
