About the Authors



Stephen Haag

Stephen Haag is a professor in and Chair of the Department of Information Technology and Electronic Commerce in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Stephen holds a B.B.A. and M.B.A. from West Texas State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. Stephen has been teaching in the classroom since 1982 and publishing books since 1984. He has also written numerous articles appearing in such journals as Communications of the ACM, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, and the Australian Journal of Management.

Stephen is the co-author of numerous books including Interactions: Teaching English as a Second Language (with his mother and father), Information Technology: Tomorrow's Advantage Today (with Peter Keen), Excelling in Finance, and over 20 books within the I-Series. Stephen lives with his wife, Pam, and their three sons - Indiana, Darian, and Trevor - in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.


Maeve Cummings
Maeve Cummings is a professor of Information Systems at Pittsburg State University. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science and an M.B.A from Pittsburg State, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has published in various journals including the Journal of Global Information Management and the Journal of Computer Information Systems. She serves on various editorial boards and is a co-author of Case Studies in Information Technology and the concepts books of the I-Series, entitled Computing Concepts. Maeve has been teaching for 20 years and lives in Pittsburg, Kansas with her husband, Slim.

Donald J. McCubbrey

Donald J. McCubbrey is a Professor in the Department of Information Technology and Electronic Commerce and Director of the Center for the Study of Electronic Commerce in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. He holds a BSBA in Accounting from Wayne State University, a Master of Business from Swinburne University of Technology in Victoria, Australia, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Maribor, Slovenia.

Prior to joining the Daniels College faculty in 1984, he was a partner with Andersen Consulting/Arthur Andersen & Co. During his career as an IT consultant he participated in client engagements in the U.S. and several other countries in the Americas and Europe. He has published articles in Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Information Technology and People and MIS Quarterly, and co-authored the Systems Analysis and Design text entitled Foundations of Business Systems. He is a co-founder and director emeritus of the Colorado Software and Internet Association and serves on the board of the EC Institute. He lives in the Colorado foothills with his wife, Janis.


Alain Pinsonneault

Alain Pinsonneault is the Imasco Professor of information sytems in the Faculty of Management at McGill University. He holds a B. Comm. from Concordia university, an M. Sc. in Information Systems from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to joining McGill University in June 1999, he was an Associate Professor at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (Montréal) and the Director of the Ph.D. program.

Alain Pinsonneault won the Doctoral Award of the International Center for Information Technology and MCI Communications in the U.S.A. in 1990 and was named the Person of the Week by La Presse newspaper in 1991. In 1993 he was named the most promising HEC graduate by the alumni, and in 1995, he won the Gaëtan Morin Award as the most promising young researcher at HEC. In 1997, he was awarded the CDROM-SNI Award for the best pedagogical material that used information technology at HEC. He has published papers in Management Science, Management Information Systems Quarterly, Information Systems Research, the Journal of Management Information Systems, Small Group Research, Organization Science, Decision Support Systems, and the European Journal of Operational Research.


Richard G. Donovan

Richard G. Donovan is the Associate Dean of the Bachelor of Commerce program within the Faculty of Management at McGill University. He holds a B.Com with a Major in Information Systems and a Concentration in Marketing as well as a Certificate in Public Relations from McGill University. In addition, he has earned a Graduate Diploma in Instructional Technology from Concordia University.

Prior to joining McGill in July 1997, he worked at a top Canadian life insurance company for 8 years, where he held positions such as Systems Consultant, Senior Training and Development Consultant, and Production Manager supervising a staff of eighteen. Since his arrival at McGill, he has won outstanding teaching awards and student life awards on nine occasions.

Previously to being appointed Associate Dean of the Undergraduate Program in January 2001, Richard was the area coordinator for the Information Systems area. He continues to design and teach courses in the I.S. and Strategy areas. He teaches executives at both the International Masters Program in Practicing Management and at the McGill International Executive Institute. Richard works regularly as an information technology consultant for private industry and also sits on the advisory board of a dot-com company based in Montreal.
