Compliance to standards is important to the success of a company. A customer will pay a higher price for a product that meets certain standards. This is why the "CSA" label is important to many companies. This voluntary, not-for-profit membership organization tests and certifies products to specified standards. Check out the CSA web site and answer the following questions for the basis of a class discussion.

  1. Identify one product category that is certified by CSA. Include specific examples of products in this category.
  2. Visit a store and locate one product in this category and identify the CSA label.
  3. Why would this industry pay for the certification?
