Canadian Perspective - Real life examples from Canadian economy and business are introduced in the text, in examples and problems, and in data included in exercises throughout the text.

Emphasis on Excel / MegaStat - Because Microsoft Excel is widely used in business setting, we have integrated the usage of this package throughout the text. Over 100 screen captures are highlighted with an Excel icon in the margin, and provide immediate visuals of the concepts being presented, as well as instructions on how to achieve the results (input, intermediate, and output steps are presented visually and are accompanied by step-by-step instructions for students to facilitate use). MegaStat Version 9.0 enhances the functionality of Excel for statistical techniques not covered by Excel, and is available on the CD-ROM packaged with new copies of the text. Computer examples using MINITAB are available on the CD-ROM that accompanies the text, and correspond with the MINITAB icons found in the chapters.

Visual Statistics - This statistical software tool to analyze data is included free on the Student CD-ROM. Students will benefit from the ability to illustrate the affects of manipulating statistical data for better interpretation of concepts.

Self-Reviews - Self-Reviews are interspersed throughout the chapter and are closely patterned after the preceding examples. These reviews help monitor progress, and provide immediate reinforcement for that particular technique. The worked-out solutions are provided at the end of each chapter.

Statistics in Action Boxes - These articles are scattered throughout the text, usually about two per chapter. They provide unique and interesting applications and historical insights into the fild of statistics.

Formulas - Formulas used for the first time are boxed and numbered for reference. In addition, these key formulas are listed at the end of the text for easy reference and review.

Pronunciation Key - This useful tool lists the math symbol, its meaning, and how it is pronounced at the end of the chapter. This helps students gain confidence in the language of statistics and retain the meaning of the symbol.

exercises.com - Additional exercises that require students to access information at related internet sites are available on the Student CD-Rom that accompanies the text.

Computer Data Exercises - The last several exercises at the end of each chapter are based on four large data sets. These data sets are included on the CD-ROM. packaged with the text.
