Student CD-ROM

Every new copy of Basic Statistics for Business and Economics, Second Canadian Edition, includes a CD-ROM that features three additional chapters on Index Numbers, Time Series and Forecasting, and An Introduction to Decision Theory. Also included are data files (in Excel and MINITAB formats) for the large data sets and exercises, video clips, electronic tutorials, Web exercises, MINITAB examples and computer commands, answers to oddnumbered exercises for Data Set Exercises, glossary, and key formulas.

MegaStat for Excel® by J. B. Orriss of Butler University is also included on the CD-ROM. MegaStat Version 9.0, an Excel add-in, includes new routines for nonparametrics, time series, regression modeling, control charts, and box plots. Help files are built in and an introductory manual is also included on the CD.

Also included free on the student CD-ROM is Visual Statistics 2.0, by Doane, Mathieson, and Tracy. This package of 21 software programs and hundreds of data files and examples is designed for teaching and learning basic statistics. The modules of Visual Statistics provide an interactive, highly graphical, experimental format in which to explore statistics. The software and worktext promote active learning through competency building exercises, individual and team projects, and built-in databases. Over 400 data sets from business setting are included within the package, and the Visual Statistics CD includes the worktext in electronic files.
