About the Author



Charles W. L. Hill is the Hughes M. Blake Professor of International Business at the School of Business, University of Washington. Professor Hill received his Ph.D. from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in Britain. In addition to the University of Washington, he has served on the faculties of UMIST, Texas A&M University, and Michigan State University.<br> Professor Hill has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals, including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science. He has also published two college texts: one on strategic management and the other on international business. Professor Hill has served on the editorial boards of several academic journals, including the Strategic Management Journal and Organization Science. Between 1993 and 1996, he was consulting editor at the Academy of Management Review.<br> Professor Hill teaches in the MBA, Executive MBA, Management, and Ph.D. programs at the University of Washington. He has received awards for teaching excellence in the MBA, Executive MBA, and Management programs. He has also taught customized executive programs.
Professor Hill works on a consulting basis with a number of organizations. His clients have included ATL, Boeing, BF Goodrich, Hexcel, House of Fraser, Microsoft, Seattle City Light, Tacoma City Light, Thompson Financial Services, and Wizards of the Coast.

Chow-Hou Wee is currently Professor of Strategy and Marketing as well as Head of the Marketing and International Business Division at the Nanyang Business School in Nanyang Technological University. He is an Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Management of Xiamen University (China) and the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman of Malaysia.
A former Merit, Colombo Plan, and Commonwealth scholar, Professor Wee received his MBA and Ph.D. from the Ivey School of Business Administration, the University of Western Ontario, in Canada. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 1995, the Public Service Medal in 1999, and the Public Service Star in 2006 by the President of Singapore.
On the corporate front, Professor Wee has served as a Board Director in various statutory boards and corporate entities, including HTL International Holdings Ltd., National Productivity Board, Telecommunications Authority of Singapore, Neptune Orient Lines Ltd., and China Precision Technology Ltd. He is also a judge for the Annual Business Times-DHL Business Awards.
Professor Wee has over 300 publications in various international, regional, and local journals and conference proceedings, and is the author/senior author of several bestselling books. He has consulted and conducted executive training to over 250 major corporations in over 30 countries and/or economies, including Fortune 500 companies and major companies such as Dell, Motorola, Nokia, Roche Diagnostics, and Givaudan. He is regularly invited to address major business and professional conferences around the world.

Krishna Udayasankar is part of the International Business Group within the Marketing and International Business Division of Nanyang Business School in Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from NTU, a graduate degree in International Business from the University of Sydney, and an honours degree in Law from the National Law School of India University.
Dr. Udayasankar's research interests span the broad and dynamic field of business-government-society interactions. She has published papers on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in leading journals such as Journal of Business Ethics. She has also garnered awards for her work on international Corporate Governance, including the Best Distinguished Paper Award at the Academy of Management Conference in 2005 and Highly Commended Paper award at the foremost International Conference on Corporate Governance in 2008.
Dr. Udayasankar brings to the classroom her diverse experiences as a trained lawyer, NGO activist, corporate executive, and business consultant. She particularly aims to bridge the gap between academia and practice by breaking down abstract and complex theoretical concepts into intuitive blocks that managers can imbibe and apply.
During her free time, Dr. Udayasankar enjoys writing poetry and fiction and going for long walks with her husband and two Siberian Huskies!
