Art and Artists

Artists: Maria Martinez

Maria Martinez bridged two centuries of Native American cultural experience and helped revitalize and popularize traditions of Pueblo pottery. Her work, which can be found in museums, private collections and even the White House, set the standard for a uniquely American style of pottery called blackware. To find out more about Martinez and Pueblo pottery, check out this site at the Internet Public Library.
