Available to adopters and to students:

  • Student Edition. Full-color textbook with activities, grammar explanations and exercises, and helpful appendices.
  • Listening Comprehension Program. Available on either audio CD or audiocassette, this program, with selections of readings from the Info boxes, Les Francophones sur le vif, and Lectures sections, is offered for free with each copy of the Student Edition
  • Cahier d'exercices. This combined workbook/laboratory manual contains both acquisition activities and learning exercises for use outside the classroom. New in this edition are a clearer organization and a new listening activity based on a feuilleton. In this edition we have included pre- and post-listening activities to accompany our new recorded "radio" serial program, called Rencontres.
  • Audio Program. Available on audio CD or audiocassettes, this program contains pronunciation practice and listening comprehension texts, recorded dialogues, narratives, and a new Rencontres serial program starting in Chapter 1. The audio program corresponds to written Cahier activities. In addition, this program offers a complete introduction to basic phonetics and pronunciation, with accompanying practice exercises and dictées.
  • Extensively revised! Student CD-ROM. A CD-ROM containing the vocabulary displays with pronunciation items, grammar and vocabulary practice, new video clips, a talking dictionary, and more!
  • New! Deux mondes website. A web-based learning center with online activities and learning resources for students.
  • New! Sans-faute. An interactive writing environment that offers students a high performance search engine (on a dual platform CD-ROM), a simple word processor, a comprehensive French-English dictionary (Ultra Lingua; see below), and convenient grammatical resources to create accurate, meaningful French compositions in beginning or intermediate French courses. Sans-faute can be purchased as a stand-alone product or packaged with the Student Edition of Deux mondes.
  • New! Ultra Lingua. A thorough, yet compact French-English Dictionary available on a dual platform CD-ROM. Ultra Lingua contains nearly 250,000 indexed terms, complete with hints for usage, thousands of sample phrases, technical terms, slang words and phrases, and proverbs. It also contains complete online references for French and English grammar, sample letters for correspondence in French and English, and a reference for the expression of numbers, dates, ect. Designed to serve the needs of writers at varying levels of proficiency, Ultra Lingua provides a quick and complete reference for beginners and advanced writers alike.
  • McGraw-Hill Electronic Language Tutor. Available in dual platforms, this software program contains vocabulary practice and single-response exercises from the blue pages of the text.
  • A Practical Guide to Language Learning: A fifteen-week Program of Strategies for Success, by H. Douglas Brown (San Francisco State University). A brief introduction to language learning written for beginning students.

  • Annotated Instructor's Edition. The main text containing marginal notes with suggestions for using and expanding every Activité in the text, it also offers additional cultural information, teaching hints for using all readings, photos, and realia, and tips on teaching selected grammar points in the Natural Approach classroom.
  • Instructor's Manual. This guide offers more detailed teaching suggestions and theoretical background on the Natural Approach, including a fully illustrated guided tour of the Première étape and Chapitre 1 that includes detailed comments on the function and organization of the materials.
  • New! Instructor's Resource Kit. This kit provides supplementary activities, photocopy masters, games, and other resources that correspond to the themes in the student text.
  • Test Bank and Audio Testing Program. This volume offers a variety of test components emphasizing listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar, allowing instructors to create tests according to the needs of their class. Listening comprehension passages are recorded on the accompanying audio CD or audiocassette.
  • Electronic Test Bank. Available in a dual-platform format, this program contains the tests found in the printed Test Bank but provides the flexibility of electronically modifying or adapting the tests to suit the needs of your students.
  • Audioscript. A transcript containing all the material recorded in the Audio Program.
  • New! Video program. Filmed on location in France with additional footage from Francophone countries, this video covers functional language situations in video clips tied to the themes for each chapter in the text. The video program from the previous edition is also available to adopters and remains keyed to Cahier chapters.
  • Overhead Transparencies. A set of 50 acetates for presentation of vocabulary review and class activities.
  • A Training/ Orientation Manual. For use with teaching assistants, this volume (by James F. Lee of Indiana University, Bloomington) offers practical advice for beginning language instructors and their coordinators.
