Supplements

Laboratory Manual--The exercises comprising this laboratory manual are intended to supplement the text Concepts in Biology, but they can be used with any introductory-level biology text. Laboratory exercises begin with a list of safety issues that your students need to be aware of. These items identify caustic chemicals, equipment that needs special care or handling, and health or safety hazards a careless student may encounter.

We suggest that students use the laboratory manual as a workbook and record data and answers to questions in the spaces provided. The laboratory gives students the opportunity to "get their hands in biology." They go beyond reading and studying and actually enter into the process of doing science.

How to Study Science, 4e--This inexpensive supplement can help students who are uneasy about learning science. It can help them get the most out of their science course by giving them suggestions on note-taking, managing study time, taking tests, and more. This guide can be used in several ways. Individual students may use this book to enhance their study skills, or instructors may use it as a test or supplement for orientation classes, college seminars, or science courses.

Digital Content Manager--A multimedia tool that enables the user to easily create customized presentations. This CD-ROM is made up of easy to use folders containing all of the line art from the text, and some of the photos, in pdf format.

Life Science Animations CD--Over 600 complex life science animations are included on this CD-ROM. You can use these in your presentations to help students understand some of the most difficult concepts in biology. Imagine how your students will appreciate seeing an animation of meiosis, mitosis, translation, etc. to help them grasp these concepts. These narrated animations are from 30 to 120 seconds in length. You can pause them, mute them, and rewind them to suit your classroom presentation.

Testing Software--Diploma's testing capability is consistently ranked number one in evaluations over other products. With its Test Generator, On-Line Testing Program, Internet Testing, and Grade Management Systems, Diploma is very instructor-friendly software.

MathPrep for Biology--MathPrep for Biology is an interactive computer tutorial designed to help introductory students learn the necessary math skills to be successful in biology. The ten modules implement biological applications and problems in demonstrating mathematical concepts. A built-in calculator is also found within the software.

Photo Atlas for General Biology--This atlas was developed to support our numerous general biology titles. It can be used as a supplement for a general biology or laboratory course.
