  1. Select a current popular weight-loss diet. Thoroughly assess it in terms of: (a) its basic principles; (b) calories allowed; (c) foods/food groups included or eliminated; (d) flexibility and compatibility with lifestyle; (e) sustainability; (f) exercise recommendations; and (g) scientific consensus/research base.
  2. Collect magazine/newspaper ads on weight-loss diets and gimmicks. Assess their potential effectiveness.
  3. Keep an eating diary for 3 days, assessing WHY, WHERE, and WHAT you are eating. List any emotional connection/reason for the eating circumstance.
  4. Research the weight-loss/weight-management resources at your college or university. What support systems are available?
  5. Interview someone who works with or counsels people with eating disorders.
