Preventing Cancer

Additional Lab Activities

  1. Do a breast or testicular self-exam at home.
  2. Write an essay debating whether smoking should be banned on campus.
  3. Keep an eating diary for 3 days. Make a list of the "cancer-preventing" foods you ate and the "cancer-promoting" foods you ate.
  4. Interview tobacco users or former users. Ask how they got started, why they continue, and if they have tried to quit. Ask the former users how they quit.
  5. Visit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Interview a worker/volunteer, asking about the mission, goals, and activities of the chapter. Review/collect literature distributed by the chapter.
  6. Interview a cancer survivor.
