The World Wide Web

Chapter 4 Learning Objectives

Much of what you will eventually learn about the Web and browsers will be self-taught. Our goal here is to help speed up this process by presenting key ideas. While the construction of quality Web pages is not easy, this chapter will give you enough background to put together a thoughtful Web presentation.

In this chapter, we examine the following:

The World Wide Web

Miscellaneous Web browser features, including a comparison of Netscape’s and Microsoft’s Web browsers

HTML writing styles

The outline, design, and management of a Web presentation

The registration of Web pages

Lynx, a text-based Web browser
