At http://www.princeton.edu/~oa/manual/sect9.html is a group dynamics and leadership
site by the Outdoor Action Program at Princeton University. This page contains
information on group dynamics and leadership and includes information on the
functions and behaviors performed by a leader, as well as leadership and communication
styles. It also gives a brief look into situational leadership theory (SLT). The leadership site http://www.hope2help.com/team/skill.htm, by Dick Wulf,
gives great examples of ineffective leadership and what to do to handle the
inefficiencies. Wulf contends that one of the shortfalls made in leadership
is the leader "not leading the team as a group.'' Leadership Skills for Communication, Group Facilitation, and Action at http://www2.hawaii.edu/~jharris/leadership.html
contains links to materials such as handouts and workbooks that Jeff Brooks-Harris
is developing with colleagues at the University of Hawaii to train student leaders
to use different types of leadership skills. A Toolkit for Volunteer Leaders, at http://www.ianr.unl.edu/ianr/4h/volun/arlen/small.htm,
contains Roberts Rules of Order and gives volunteer group leaders a crash course
on groups, techniques, and roles. The site also contains a neat section for
leaders about "What to do if . . .'' that addresses several scenarios that
frequently occur in groups. Big Dog's Leadership Link Page, at http://www.nwlink.com/~donclark/leader/leadlnk.html,
is a great source of links to leadership topics, including motivation and assessment
instruments such as surveys. It also includes topics such as contingency theory
and strategic planning. |
