Analytical Thinking Exercise- By looking at the box on "Judicial Power," find the U.S. and explain what is meant by the claim that U.S. courts are highly political compared with the courts of many other democracies.
- From Table 14-2 on "Background Characteristics of Presidents' Judicial Nominees" note what characteristics were favored by which presidents. Speculate on whether these characteristics affected judicial decision making trends among various presidential administrations.
- Use the analytical thinking format from Chapter One of this Study Guide to discuss the chaper reading "Judicial Interpretation" by William Brennan, Jr., at the end of Chapter Fourteen of the text.
