Analytical Thinking Exercise- Note in the chapter the identifying characteristics of liberals and conservatives. Go back through previous chapters and add other identifying qualities to that list. Look at all the items on the list and then notice where they are logically consistent and where they are not. Note which items might actually conflict with each other within each list. See if there are any items on the list that seem to characterize your beliefs. Consider how actual individual opinions falling into more ambiguous areas than the traditional liberal-conservative typology.
- Apply the anaytical thinking criteria to the essay "Democracy, Information, and the Rational Public" by Benjamin Page and Robert Shapiro at the end of Chapter Six in your text.
