Analytical Thinking Exercise

  1. Using Figure 8-2 describe the demographic groups which made up Democratic party support in recent presidential elections. Summarize which groups gave the Democratic party the most support and then figure out which groups then most probably would have supported the Republican party. Decide which party you and your family would most likely match. Which party most nearly matches that of your state and congressional district?
  2. Using the analytical thinking format from Chapter One of this Study Guide, discuss the reading "Running for Congress" by Paul S. Herrnson at the end of Chapter Eight of your text.
