Analytical Thinking Exercise

  1. This exercise presents an opportunity to apply some conceptual explanations to commonly found information relating to a topic. Familiarize yourself with the differences between inside and outside lobbying tactics from Table 9-2. From newspapers or newsmagazines find articles describing lobbying activity that illustrates both categories.
  2. Apply the anaytical thinking format from Chapter One of this Study Guide to the reading "The Paralyzing Effect of Group Politics" by Jonathan Rauch at the end of Chapter Nine of the text.
