Many Germans -- like many Americans -- like to send greeting cards on a great number of occasions. On some of these occasions -- birthdays, Christmas, to say "thank you" -- cards are almost expected and are considered an expression of proper etiquette. To give you an idea of what kinds of events Germans celebrate and what they send cards for, visit the following Grußkarten website.

1.
Find out when/on what occasion(s) Germans write personalized greeting cards and try to determine similarities/differences between the U.S. and Germany in this regard. Record your observations and be prepared to share them with your instructor and classmates.

2.
Now select one of the cards and send a personalized greeting to one of your classmates. Be sure to write your greeting in German! Print out the card you receive and bring it to class with you.
