1		Imagine that you are a genetic counselor and a couple has come to you because they are concerned about whether they should have children. The wife is 40 years old and comes from an Eastern European Jewish background. Her husband is a 42-year-old African American. What potential problems might this couple's children have? How would you counsel them?



2		Your roommate has been reading Arthur Jensen's claims about the relationship between heredity and intelligence, and has determined that you will never become a major success in life because your hereditary background will limit you to mediocrity. Consider what you know about Jensen's work and the later similar claims by Hernstein and Murray, then examine criticisms of this body of research and the various theories that address heredity and environment in an effort either to support or refute your roommate’s assertions.
