1) Check to see if your university or college has a security or police department. Websites such as http://dpsw.usc.edu/UnivPDWeb.html and www.campussafety.org list and provide links for many of these departments. What types of services does the department provide? Does the department have commissioned law enforcement officers? Are they armed? Do they have arrest powers?

2) Go to www.concentric.net/~Dwoods/mission.htm and read "The Mission of Policing: The Lost Imperative." According to the authors, what are the problems associated with the traditional police model? How does the new model remedy these problems? What are the difficulties associated with implementing a new style of policing?
