Take one of the tours: the "Pictures and Text Tour" or the "Video Tour" to learn more about the world's largest chocolate factory in Hershey, Pennsylvania. After taking the tour, answer the following questions:

  1. What are the main ingredients in Hershey's chocolate?
  2. What is a standard?
  3. What standards should be set by Hershey's for use in its chocolate factory? How are these standards typically broken down for purposes of variance analysis?
  4. What are the two categories of standards in terms of motivating factory employees? Describe each category. If the managers in the Hershey's factory were like most managers, which category of standards would they prefer? Why?
