Musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, and Joe Zawinul were alumni of Miles Davis-led groups, and all went on to make significant musical contributions as leaders of their own bands. Do you think that it was just coincidence that they had all worked with Davis, or do you think that there was something in that experience that shaped their later work? Explain.

What does this tell you about their level of musicianship?
