The fourth edition of this highly successful text reflects changes and updates to the UNIX curriculum that have taken place since the publication of the third edition. The book is written in a clear, straightforward style that avoids unnecessary jargon. This short, yet comprehensive text covers the basics of UNIX. It can be used in both a freshman engineering course or to supplement other courses where the student needs to learn UNIX for the first time. The book is enhanced by strong pedagogical tools that will be very useful to those in the classroom, as well as those engaged in self-study.
