Web sites aren’t all just text and pictures anymore. Many are taking advantage of browser plug-ins that add new functionality and display abilities to Web browsers, as we discussed in Chapter 8. One of the most popular plug-ins is Macromedia’s Shockwave. Visit our site at http://www.mhhe.com/oleary to link to the Macromedia site. Once connected, read about Shockwave and answer the following questions in a one-page paper: (a) What is Shockwave? What types of content can it display? (b) How is the Shockwave plug-in obtained? (c) What types of companies are using Shockwave in their Web page designs? (d) Do you think Shockwave is a valuable Web page addition, or just a flashy distraction? Explain your answer.
