Albert Camus

Biographical

When Camus won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1957, the Nobel Foundation prepared this page for him. On it you'll find a biography, links to his speech, images of Swedish Nobel stamps, and other interesting things.

This page from FindAGrave.com contains some biographical information about Camus, and naturally enough, a picture of his grave in Lourmarin, France. If you had to choose between citing this information and that which you found above, which would it be and why?

Bibliographical

Here's a version of Camus' "The Myth of Sisyphus" in etext. Study this version and the one in your text and answer these questions: How are the versions different? How do you account for the differences?

Click here and you can read Camus's preface to The Stranger. Have you read this book? Have you seen a movie adaptation? Will you pursue either of these things now that you've read the preface? Explain.

Read this review of Camus' book The First Man. What does the reviewer think of the novel? What do you think of the review? (Free registration required.)

Cultural

Interested in researching some part of Camus' life, but not sure where to start? "The Notebook on Albert Camus" from Baylor University might be a good first stop.

Here's another research approach: "The Albert Camus Critical Interpretation Homepage" from Paul M. Willenberg of Swarthmore College, has photos, a biography, and links to essays by and about Camus.

Did learning about Camus' life and work spark an interest in writing about existentialism? If so, take a look at this essay.

Perhaps your readings and research have sparked an interest in mythology. This Google.com directory on the subject will give you numerous ways to narrow your topic.
