In Mexico, Valentines Day is not just for lovers. The Mexicans call Valentines Day Dia de Amistad--Friendship Day. Calling it Friendship Day makes more sense to me because not everyone has a lover, but almost everyone has friends. On Dia de Amistad, Mexicans exchange cards, flowers, candy, and other small presents with their friends. Mexicans try to make everyone feel good. I think the idea of giving everyone gifts is excellent. I wish that Americans would expand their very narrow view of Valentines Day.
