The commonest method of obtaining electricity is use a power source to turn large turbines. The turbines are connect to alternators also called generators then produce the electricity. Different kinds of power use different methods of making the turbines turn. Some of these power sources are considered "green," and some are not. Energy is considered "green," if is renewable and it is produced with little or no effect with the environment. Energy is produced by nuclear fission and fossil fuel such as coal and gas are not renewable and cause environmental problems, nonetheless they are not "green." One most environmentally friendliest source of energy is solar power. Solar power is passive, the solar collector simply is absorb heat from the environment and then stores them for future use or uses them to produce electricity immediately. Wind power is another source of green energy. In this case huge windmill supplies wind power to the turbines. Other more unusual sources of power are geothermal, uses the heat from the earth to power the turbines and tidal power, in which the turbines utilize power to the change in ocean water levels.
