Enhancing A Document's Appearance

Case Problems

Case Problems Ch03 (81.0K)Case Problems: Animal Care League

Natalia has become quite proficient with Word’s formatting abilities. She decides to tackle some additional documents and discovers some time-saving methods. Assume the role of Natalia and perform the same steps that she would to complete these tasks.

  1. Although she is quite happy with her letterhead, Natalia wants to make it more subtle for internal documents. She opens WD03XTRA04 and reduces the size of the green lettering. She also notices that the document itself could use some better formatting. She changes the font to Times New Roman and increases the text size. She also highlights an important warning by centering it and coloring it red. Finally, she adds a number format to the list. Natalia tries to get her document to appear as possible like the document in Figure 3.8. Once finished, she saves the document as "Incoming Dogs" to her personal storage location. Keep the file open for the next exercise.

  3. Natalia has a similar document that is used for incoming cats. She opens the WRD03XTRA05 data file. She wants to apply the same formatting to this document that she just applied to the dog document. She completes this by using the Format Painter and alternating between the two documents. She recognizes that the Format Painter can only paste one format at a time, so she must alternate between the documents five times. When she is finished, she saves the document as "Incoming Cats."
  4. Natalia occasionally runs advertisements seeking the owners of dogs that have come into the shelter without identification. She wishes to update this week’s ad with the new look of the other Animal Care League documents. ( Hint: Much of this can be accomplished by cutting and pasting whole parts or formats from other documents you have completed for this chapter.) When finished, her document resembles Figure 3.9. She saves the document as "New Dog Ad".
