continues to update his older documents. In this exercise, Mike
will add some colorful formatting to an existing letter. Assume
the role of Mike and perform the steps that he identifies. - Open the WD03XTRA01 data file.
- Save the document as "New Letter" to your personal storage
location.
- Apply a different color format to the text "Vernier Luxury
Suites".
SELECT: the text "Vernier Luxury Suites" CLICK: the Font Color drop-down arrow ( (50.0K) ) SELECT: the color indigo (top row, second from the
right) - On your own, apply the color dark teal and bold formatting
to the return address text. Your document should now appear
similar to Figure 3.1.

- Add a page border in matching indigo.
CHOOSE: Format, Borders and Shading CLICK: the Page Border tab. Set up the border with the following characteristics: - Color: indigo
- Width: 3 pt
- Shadow setting

- Save and close the document.

The accounting department of Temporary Solutions recently
purchased a color laser printer. Barb Pietro, the head of
accounting, decides to take advantage of this new piece of
hardware in her Word documents. In this exercise, assume the role
of Barb as she creates a new Memo template. - Open the WD03XTRA02 data file.
- Save a copy of the document as "New Memo" to your personal
storage location.
- First, Barb adds a contemporary touch by aligning the
company name and department to the right and matching their
fonts.
SELECT: the text "Temporary Solutions Accounting

- CLICK the Right Align button (
 (50.0K) ). - Now, apply the same font to both.
SELECT: Arial from the Font drop-down list ( (50.0K) ) - On your own, apply the Tahoma font to the rest of the
document. (
Note:
If Tahoma is not available on your system, use the Arial font
again.)
- Add a double line under the memo heading.
SELECT: the three dashes (- - - ) under the heading TYPE:
three equal signs (=)
PRESS:  (50.0K) -
The Temporary Solutions logo is black and blue. Change the
formatting of the text "Temporary" to blue. The document
should now appear similar to Figure 3.4.

Save and close the document.
Data File: WD03XTRA02 (24.0K) Jan Dice: Formatting a Letter
Jan was typing a letter to a neighbor when noticed that her
letterhead template looked a little dated. She decided to spice
it up while still working on the letter. Assume the role of Jan
as she reformats the letter and then saves a copy of it as a
template for future use.

Open the WD03XTRA03 data file and save it as "New
Letterhead" to your personal storage location.

Center the address.
Highlight the return address portion of the letter, as
show in figure 3.5.

Click the Center Alignment button ( (50.0K) ).

Change the font to Verdana and the color to green.

Deemphasize the address by changing the font size to 8 and
placing it on one line, as shown in Figure 3.6.

Emphasize Jans name and add balance to the design by
changing the font size of her name to 18.

Add a single line under the return address.

Delete the contents of the letter below the line. The
document should now appear similar to Figure 3.7.

- Save the document as a template called "New Letterhead". (Note: If you are unable to save you template to Words default folder then save the template to your personal storage location.)
- Close the document.
