Designing Your Presentation

Exercises Using the Web

Exercise #1

Visit the website of one of the following companies:

www.dell.com
www.gateway.com
www.compaq.com
www.acer.com

Follow the links to pages discussing the notebook computer options offered by the company. Choose three notebook models to recommend to your supervisor for the sales staff. Gather all the information the site has to offer on each computer model.

Using PowerPoint, prepare a presentation for the next staff meeting where you will present your recommendations. Start with a blank presentation and apply a design template of your choice. Begin with a title slide that provides the name of the computer company you have chosen in the Title placeholder and your name in the subtitle placeholder. For each computer model, create 2 Title and Text slides. Put the name of the computer model in the title area of each model’s slide. Include a brief description of the model on the first slide for each model and list specifications in bulleted text on the second slide for each model, using a minimum of two levels. End with a summary slide and your recommendations on which model to purchase. Include speaker’s notes on each of the model slides. Print the Notes Pages for the slides pertaining to the model you are recommending. Save your presentation as notebook computers.ppt

Exercise #2

You and a group of friends are planning a vacation for Spring break. Visit www.travelocity.com and follow the vacations link at the top of page. Select and read about four vacations that interest you.

Using PowerPoint create a presentation that you can send your friends. Start with a blank presentation and apply a design template of your choice. Begin with a title slide putting a catchy title in the Title placeholder and your name in the subtitle placeholder. Add a slide for each vacation. Include the vacation name in the title area. Use bulleted text to present at least 2 major topics with subtopics about each vacation in the text area of the slide. End the presentation with a slide indicating your first choice using bulleted text to explain why. Save your presentation as Spring Break.ppt
