I. Students should know all of the basic taxonomic levels, and the order in which they occur, in Linnaeus's Classification.

II. Students should understand how evolutionary relationships are reflected in the taxonomic hierarchy.

III. Students should be able to distinguish between homologous and homoplastic traits, as well as between shared derived and shared ancestral trait.

IV. Students should know how humans are classified taxonomically and understand the characteristics associated with each taxonomic level.
