Below are screen shots of the CD-ROM as well as a list of the films from which a clip is shown.
Films featured on the CD-ROM include: Far and Away, Psycho, Mulholland Dr., Far from Heaven, The Spanish Prisoner, Battleship Potemkin, Pleasantville, Casino, Cape Fear, Meet the Parents, Vertigo, Do the Right Thing, Shakespeare in Love, Double Indemnity, The General, The Graduate (71.0K)
The navigation bar on the left is always present to provide students with easy access to all CD-ROM content. This includes the Video Clips, Commentaries, and Quizzes—tied to each chapter; the Glossary of the text; link to the Online Learning Center (text-specific website); and link to the McGraw-Hill Film Screening Room. In this example, the Chapter link has been selected to show the ease of maneuvering between chapters.

Here you see the opening page for Chapter 4, Visual Design. Each video selection is accompanied by a commentary that connects the video to a concept being addressed in the chapter. In this case, the concept being addressed is Visual Impact (listed below the chapter title along the bottom of the screen) and the movie featured is Far from Heaven. Students can rewind or forward the video, turn the audio on/off, and page through the commentary at their own pace.

With the quiz function, students have the opportunity to test their mastery of the concepts addressed on the CD-ROM. There is a separate quiz (10 questions) for each chapter. Answers can be immediately checked and results e-mailed to the instructor upon completion of each quiz. Boxes in the top right-hand corner keep a tally of where one is in the quiz and the number of correct responses submitted.

Once a quiz is finished, one additional click on “NEXT QUESTION” allows students to e-mail their test results to their instructor. Please note that at this point, students have the option of just saving the results or retaking the quiz.

Students will also find having the text Glossary on-hand a convenient reference while working through the chapter content.
