In Chapter One, we talk about using your senses to put the various aspects of a performance together. Go to this web page, http://www.artchive.com/artchive/S/seurat/jatte.jpg.html, and look at an online version of A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat. Zoom in and look at up close, then zoom out and see what it looks like. Then go to this web page, http://pages.ivillage.com/simplice/Sunday.html, and listen to a MIDI version of "Color and Light," a song from Sunday in the Park with George, a musical about Georges Seurat. Are the painting and the song similar in any way? How does each affect your senses?

One of the 10 Traits of Theatre is that it happens in a particular place. But the particular places can look very different from one another. Take a look at some images of Greek theatres here http://history.smsu.edu/jchuchiak/greek_theaters.htm. Then take a virtual tour of the rebuilt Globe Theatre here, http://www.shakespeares-globe.org/navigation/frameset.htm. How are these spaces different? Do you think a performance's effect on an audience would be different in each space? Why or why not?
