Nancy, who is 14, is talking to her older sister, Joanne, age 20. Joanne insists that when Nancy was 6, she got lost at the circus and she and their parents searched frantically for her for two hours. Joanne says that they finally found her hanging out by the concession stand, just watching the people. At first, Nancy had no recollection of this, but the more Joanne talked the more Nancy started to recall some of the details. Is it possible that Nancy is imagining a false "memory"?

A group of parents have called a special PTA meeting to discuss the math curriculum at their children's elementary school. Apparently students are using computers and calculators, and working in groups on math "projects." The parents are alarmed that their children don't seem to be learning old-fashioned arithmetic. What happened to multiplication tables and long division?
