CHAPTER OBJECTIVES

1. Understand the defining properties of stacks and queues.
2. Compare various implementations of both the PureStack and PureQueue interfaces, and be able to develop a linked implementation of the PureQueue class from scratch.
3. Explain the major flaw in the Java Collections Framework’s Stack class and Queue interface.
4. Explore the use of stacks in the implementation of recursion and in converting from infix notation to postfix notation.
5. Examine the role of queues in computer simulation.
