Absolute links  Links that contain complete addresses to the resource.
Action buttons  Ready-made buttons used to provide navigation such as next, previous, first, and last. The action is controlled by adding a hyperlink.
Bookmark  Used to mark a specific page or location within a file for linking.
Broken hyperlinks  Hyperlinks that do not work because the document is not at the indicated address.
File transfer protocol (FTP)  Software applications used to move files from a local computer to a Web server.
Frames  A Web page that has multiple windows. Each window is a frame and displays a different HTML document.
Home page  The opening page of a Web site that typically contains a list of available services, topics, and features.
HTML  See hypertext markup language.
Hyperlink  A clickable object that links to another point in the current document or to another document.
Hyperlink base  The common location used for all linked files of a project.
Internet  A network of privately owned computers designed to share documents and services worldwide.
Internet service providers (ISPs)  Organizations that provide access to the Internet and Web services.
Intranets  Networks providing services within an organization similar to those provided by the Internet.
ISP  See internet service providers.
Local server  A computer providing services to an organization's local area network.
Navigation bar  Navigation controls such as next and previous added to a presentation saved as a Web page.
Relative links  Links that use a default value for part of the resource address. For example, when only a file name is included, the drive, path, and folder of the current file is assumed to complete the address.
Uniform resource locator  The address of a Web page or other Web resource.
URL  See uniform resource locator.
Web browser  Software application like Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator used to view Web pages.
Web pages  Pages formatted with HTML for delivery through the World Wide Web or a local intranet.
Web server  A computer that provides access to and from the World Wide Web and Internet.
Web site  A group of Web pages published to be used together. A home page typically provides a starting point with a menu of available topics.
World Wide Web  A worldwide network of hyperlinked documents.
