What African-American companies? By following some links from this site to other African American sites, what do you discover about the place of this particular type of theater in American society? Is African American theater valued in the United States?
  2. Visit the East West Players website to learn more about the oldest Asian American theater company in the United States at http://www.eastwestplayers.org. What concerns are reflected in the company's mission statement speaking to issues of diversity? What shows are currently in production? How does the show selection reinforce the concept of diversity and difference?
  3. Native American performance still remains a neglected part of the American theater tradition. Visit http://staff.lib.muohio.edu/nawpa/Spiderwoman.html and explore one company's attempt to bring the Native American experience to life. Visiting the online exhibit section, you can view images and text connected to this small but influential performance group. How does their work speak to you? Does it make you aware of differences or similarities in your personal experience?

Upon exploring the website, determine how this prominent theater company is serving the needs of the Latin American community? How does this website make you aware of your own cultural difference? Look at the history and mission of the company. How is this company, begun in the 1960's, still remaining relevant in today's media driven society?

Think about their differences in performance styles and methods. Do either of these artists speak to diversity issues? How does their work impact you?
